Key responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain proper temperature, humidity, and storage conditions for perishable items in accordance with food safety regulations and company standards.
  • Inspect incoming deliveries of perishable goods for quality, quantity, and compliance with purchase orders.
  • Implement and maintain a first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory system to minimise waste and ensure product freshness.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to manage inventory levels and ensure timely delivery of perishable goods.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on perishable items to identify and address any issues related to freshness, appearance, or safety.
  • Train and supervise staff members involved in the handling and storage of perishable goods to ensure compliance with standards and protocols.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as purchasing and sales, to optimise product selection, pricing, and promotion strategies for perishable items.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, quality assessments, and other relevant data related to perishable goods.
  • Implement and enforce food safety and sanitation protocols to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Stay informed about market trends, best practices, and regulations related to perishable goods to continuously improve processes and procedures.
