Job Description:
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all aspects related to project costs, from initial estimates to final account settlement. This role will involve working closely with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure that projects are financially efficient and in compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including material, labor, and equipment costs.
- Assist in the development of project budgets and financial plans.
- Monitor and control project costs throughout the project lifecycle.
Procurement:
- Coordinate procurement activities, including tendering, vendor selection, and contract negotiations.
- Evaluate and analyze supplier and subcontractor bids to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Manage the procurement process to maximize efficiency and minimize delays.
Cost Control:
- Track project expenditures and report on any deviations from the budget.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide recommendations for cost reduction.
- Manage change orders and variations in the project scope.
Contract Administration:
- Review and administer construction contracts to ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
- Handle contract disputes and claims related to costs and variations.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and contracts.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare regular reports on project costs, cost forecasts, and financial performance.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of all cost-related activities.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., RICS, MRICS) are a plus.
- Proven experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost estimating, and procurement processes.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools, including cost estimating and project management software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
